ART THERAPIST/THERAPEUTIC COUNSELOR
Full Time (10-month/5 days per week) or Part Time (3-4 days/week) school year
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide therapeutic services to students as an IEP direct service provider aligned with student goals
Assist in completing initial and special education reevaluations.
Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and assessment
Attend all IEP meetings as directed by caseload, as well as special education meetings
Add to IEP inducing present level, goal development and services for completion.
Work with a variety of technology including special education and regular education platforms of Infinite Campus, grades, attendance, behavior referrals, google classroom.
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating and individual therapy services for students on the caseload
Communicate with the parents/guardians, special education and regular education staff on a regular basis, work collaboratively with a variety of staff
Ability to administer assessments as needed, adding to evaluation reports
Knowledge of and ability to develop therapy activities aligned with IEP goals across a variety of social-emotional-behavioral areas integrating Ojibwe culture concepts and activities.
Demonstrate flexibility with the daily schedule
Complete quarterly progress reports
Assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans
Maintain student progress and records, service logs
Attend student support staff counseling team meetings
Participate in school activities as assigned- field trips, assemblies, pow wows, student programs, graduation ceremonies.
Directly responsible to the Director of Special Education -other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Art Therapist; school counselor or certified mental health counselor
Experience working with Native American youth referred
Must be support of the LCO philosophy, concept, policy and procedures
Native American preference in employment
