ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
DURATION: Full Time (10-month school year)
START DATE: 2026-27 School year
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct specially designed instruction services corresponding to the IEP to students with disabilities at the elementary level across disability categories (cross categorical)
Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and formal assessment
Write IEP in its entirety using a data driven approach to goals and service delivery
Complete progress reports that are in conjunction with IEP goals quarterly
Lead and attend all IEP meetings as directed by caseload, inviting team members
Complete organizational tasks that include IEP completion, parent contacts, collaboration with staff
Work with a variety of technology including special education and regular education platforms of Infinite Campus, attendance, behavior referrals, google classroom.
Coordinate services with related service personnel and community agencies
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating special education services for students on the caseload including working with a paraprofessional
Communicate with the parents/guardians, special education and regular education staff on a regular basis
Administer, score and interpret academic achievement tests under the direction of the school psychologist
Behavioral knowledge to write plans and implement positive behavior supports plans and behavioral response plans
Research and develop evidence based intervention programs in line with student IEP services to make goal progress across a variety of subjects
Integration of Ojibwe culture and language activities.
Ability to teach a variety of content
Demonstrate flexibility with the daily schedule
Support students in general education classes and assist staff with accommodations as needed, work collaboratively with a variety of staff
Participate in school activities as assigned- field trips, assemblies, pow wows, student programs, graduation ceremonies.
Directly responsible to the Director of Special Education, other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
License certification for elementary special education or provisional license
Experience working with Native American youth referred
Must be support of the LCO philosophy, concept, policy and procedures
Native American preference in employment
