Desired Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret budgets, technical procedures; laws or governmental regulations; a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; write reports; interpret educations needs of special education students; present information and respond to questions from Board of Directors, administrators, staff, parents, and students
- Demonstrated ability to lead the learning of adults around equitable and inclusive instructional practices
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Strong understanding of the Individual Educational Program (IEP) and evaluation compliance procedures
- Ability to create an on-going system for evaluating the quality of IEP compliance and provide oversight on a regular basis to staff
- Demonstrated understanding of State and Federal laws regarding special education and services delivery in public schools
- Demonstrated familiarity with support services disciplines, service delivery models, and needs/challenges
- Demonstrated knowledge of the spectrum of disabilities evidenced in a public school setting
- Demonstrated ability in developing strategies teachers can use to increase student learning
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in budget development, fiscal management, and program compliance; instructional leadership; dispute resolution; time management and organization; effective decision making, problem solving, and group facilitation; and interpersonal relations and collaboration
- Knowledge of the roles of school-based specialists (Audiologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical
- Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, School Psychologists)
- Strong instructional understanding in both literacy and math
- Ability to recognize the role mental health issues play and impact students
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Administrator certificate
- Valid Washington State Teaching certificate or Educational Staff Associate certificate
- Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility
- Experience in working with students and families with special needs such as autism, behaviors disorders, cerebral palsy, etc.
- Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
- Completion of all district-required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date
