This position is part of the St Stephen’s Indian School, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Librarian you will be responsible for supporting the school library and all the library resources in a BIE school on or near the Reservation. The instruction area is in support of the school library program.

As a Librarian CY-1411-3, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Recommends and establishes the scope and extent of library programs and services to be offered.
Develops and maintains knowledge-based systems and services relevant to the organizations needs.
Develops, recommends, and monitors program budgets.
Acts as a point of expert knowledge in searching and evaluating the health care literature.
Develops and implements corrective measures and new procedures to improve and/or expand library services.
Markets resource availability to all users and promotes use.
Trains students and staff in efficient and effective use of electronic resources.
Capitalizes on existing and emerging technologies to improve access to pertinent information resources.

Conditions of Employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation for Public Trust position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a background clearance.
Must obtain and Maintain valid state driver’s license.
Must be certified/licensed by a state’s Department of Education. Emergency, provisional or conditional certificates may be accepted under the conditions they are issued by the State Education Department.
Must obtain and maintain a Librarian Certification/License related to the instructional area identified on this announcement.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements contained in the approved job category for P.L. 95-561 described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Education Requirement:
A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) including or supplemented by twelve (12) semester hours in Library Science. (Official Transcripts must be submitted with applicant packet.)
