Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for a Preventative and Restorative Educational Practices Facilitator.  This is a full-time position that follows the school calendar.

Job Description Outline:

The job of the PREP Facilitator is to provide intervention and supports to students of diverse backgrounds to avert involvement with law enforcement agencies. This position will work directly with two elementary schools in identifying students who are potentially at risk. This person will provide individual and group skill-building opportunities with students. This position will also provide direct skill-building and parent training opportunities. The facilitator will collaborate with community agencies and stakeholders in reducing barriers to allow for access to resources and services. A focus of this position will be on developing restorative practices within the school environment and systems. A priority will be reducing the disproportionality data.

Essential Functions:

Assist team in developing interventions/supports which meet the function of behavior while respecting culture and background of the student.
Collaborate with student’s academic teams to develop a plan inclusive of restorative practices to support the student’s learning.
Implement competency skill-building groups for students through collaboration and planning with the school’s MTSS team which is inclusive of the district Title VI staff.
Awareness and experience with SEL curriculum partnering with staff and collaborator.
Provides direct instruction on social skills and/or emotional regulation for groups or individual students.
Partnering with school staff and mental health collaborator to provide direct social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills.
Provide parenting classes based upon Love and Logic framework.
Develop a protocol regarding communication with families including at a minimum weekly contact ensuring the needs of the family and student are being met.
Support the school in implementing inclusive and diverse parent engagement opportunities.
Complete Family Needs Assessment which guides and determines the purpose of developing an action plan to remove barriers to child’s success in school, improving attendance, and making the school experience positive and meaningful.
Participate in home visits to connect with and engage families.
Support families in transportation needs for vital services and supports.
Attend training in Restorative Practices, Trauma Sensitive Schools, ND Native American Essential Understandings, BPS Interconnected Systems Framework, Second Step, and Love and Logic in order to support the learning of staff, students, and families.
Participate in the training of school staff on Restorative Practices within an MTSS framework.
Facilitate collaboration within Bismarck Public Schools with other student support programs (i.e. Title VI, special education, Students in Transition).
Report program data to program supervision unit.
Maintain consistent communication with district team.
Assist the MTSS team in analyzing school-wide and student data (ISF Data Report) to indicate potential students and families who could benefit from the PREP Process.
Work with district staff in using the data gathered from the PREP program to inform potential district programs and new policies and procedures.
Monitor outcomes of student data to indicate when to fade or intensify programming.
Coordinate the collection and analyzation of baseline and progress monitoring data used for decision making.
Facilitate the collaborative work with community agencies to determine patterns of need and/or support.
Partner with community agencies in supporting student and family needs.
Partner with community agencies and stakeholders in identifying cultural and diversity practices to support student learning environments.
Transporting students/families for the purpose of appointments, family trainings, family events.
Other Functions

Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work or in education
